Head “off the beaten track” with Africa Collection’s new WILD ENCOUNTERS

Africa Collection has launched an exciting new venture, called WILD ENCOUNTERS – a selection of adventure & activity based holidays that are all about the experience and offer a genuine Encounter, be it with people, places or wildlife. For example, in Cape Town our guests would not see Table Mountain on a typical coach tour. Wild Encounters’ clients would rather walk up Table Mountain, abseil down & then cycle into town for an altogether different experience …

Wild Encounters Logo

Another developing trend is for the more upmarket Overland Tour – discovering a new region or country from, literally, the ground up! These days, Overland Tours are becoming increasingly popular with Thirty-Something travellers with a spirit for adventure – who want to spend time in real places, with real people for a more “organic” interactive holiday experience.

Foot Steps Across Africa - Botswana

It’s hard to talk about Africa at the moment without talking about the much-anticipated FIFA World Cup, but there is more to Africa than the football competition in South Africa, and it has plenty to offer holiday makers without the addition of top class football.

While players complain about the incessant horn-blowing, beyond the stadiums and heaving crowds of football supporters are large animal reserves packed with amazing animals like lions, elephants and rhinos.

The variety of wildlife in Africa is astounding, and is a huge draw for most tourists. Many holiday makers go home with fine memories of safari trips which showed them animals which they had never seen before. The rugged topography of Africa male for some of the finest rural scenery. But taking a holiday in Africa doesn’t have to mean you have to sacrifice and comfort, convenience, and even luxury. There are a wide range of great hotels, spas, resorts, lodges and restaurants all over the continent, and some are even located on the game reserves where many enjoy observing the wildlife.

There is more to holidays in Africa than luxury accommodation, good meals and swimming pools; it’s also about the people and the unique culture which this continent has to offer. By staying in smaller independent establishments, you can meet the real African people, and truly sample a slice of African culture.

Africa is a massively popular destination for those who love outdoor adventurous activities. Diving, climbing, hiking, rambling, abseiling, bungee jumping and hot air ballooning are all popular Africa holiday activities, as well as golf, surfing and sailing among others. Equipment is cheap to hire and expert guidance is relatively to come by, so if you’re looking for a holiday which combines amazing wildlife with superb accommodation, an authentic and rustic culture with a host of high-octane activities then Africa holidays might be right up your street.

While all eyes are on South Africa for the FIFA 2010 World Cup, it might be the perfect moment to take a break in Eastern Africa. The Eastern Region of Africa is made up of nineteen territories including some highly desirable tourist destinations such as Mauritius, the Seychelles and Reunion.

Here at Africa Collection we provide a range of luxury holidays to many destinations in Eastern Africa, offering smooth travelling experiences packed with invigorating cultural experiences. Our customers enjoy holidays to a range of destinations in Eastern Africa, including Mozambique, Zambia, Mauritius, the Seychelles and Reunion Island, just off the coastline in the Indian Ocean.

The Seychelles consists of 115 islands, packed with the heavenly white sandy beaches bright turquoise tides which bring tourists back to this area year upon year. Island resorts usually accommodate around 40 guests, allowing them to enjoy their own private island, with acres of coconut palms and white sandy beaches. These islands can usually be accessed from the main island of Mahé.

The beautiful island of Mahé

The second island of Praslin boasts some of the finest lodges, resorts and hotels, and there is also La Digue and Bird Island, and some islands are even available to be booked for private use.

The best thing about the Seychelles is the guaranteed fine weather; the temperature only very rarely drops below 24c, with the wettest months being January and February. Located so close to the equator, it is very hot and there are short showers at all times of the year. April, May, October and November are generally agreed as the best time to take a holiday in the Seychelles.

If you’re interested in Indian Ocean and Eastern Africa holidays then check out the main website, which contains information about the luxury accommodation and activities available. Africa Collection can help you find holidays in Africa.

With half a million tickets for the 2010 FIFA South Africa World Cup made available from Thursday, it’s time to get you tickets and look forward to an African adventure. 29 ticket outlets are being opened in South Africa, in shopping malls within those cities that are to host World Cup matches: Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Rustenburg and Pretoria.

An international call centre will also take orders from the evening of April 15 and then daily from 8am to 10pm local time on 0041 44583 2010.

So if you want to see Rooney and the rest of the boys this summer, then you better think about booking your South Africa holiday pronto. While you’re in this amazing continent you should take advantage of some of the incredible views, wildlife, and culture available on an African holiday.

England’s first group games take place at Rustenburg and Cape Town, on the 12th and 18th of June, against the USA and Algeria respectively. After that, it’s 23rd of June at Port Elizabeth against Slovenia. Who knows what could happen after that.

Rustenburg

Rustenburg is one of the prime tourist destinations in South Africa, located in the North West Province at the foot of Magaliesburg Mountains, which towers 1, 852m above sea level. It’s just 30km from Sun City, the internationally-renowned premier holiday resort.

The Madikwe Game Reserve is a popular place for tourists to go in the North West Province, consisting of 750km2 of bushland where animals roam free. There are many Madikwe Reserve hotels & lodges to be found here.

Cape Town

At the foot of Table Mountain lies Cape Town, a cosmopolitan city with incredibly beautiful surroundings.

Playing host to the newly constructed 70,000-seater Green Point Stadium, Cape Town has much more to offer than World Cup games. Although a football stadium with a view of the mountains is not to be sniffed at, there is much more to do in Cape Town.

South Africa’s ‘Mother City’ has a diverse range of things to do for tourists, from chilling on the popular beaches to taking in the vivid paintings of Bo-Kaap. Hout Bay is well-known for it’s great tuna and crayfishing, as well as the historical naval base at Simon’s Town.

The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront provides retail opportunities for all those shopping needs, and also had the Two Oceans Aquarium. With bustling nigfhtlife, quality wine production with tours, Cape Town is an exciting and envigorating place to take a South Africa holiday.

Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth, which is part of Nelson Mandela Bay, is another of South Africa’s big cities, located in the Eastern Cape, 770km east from Cape Town. The Eastern Cape is relatively new to welcoming tourists, but is fast becoming popular with tourists looking for a range of activities and attractions as well as accommodation and pristine beaches.

We can help you find the perfect holiday; with adventurous or relaxing cultural activities and superb luxury South Africa hotels & lodges.

Incredible views

There is the vibrant and colourful city of Cape Town, nestled in the shadow of Table Mountain. A friendly, bustling, cosmopolitan city with some amazing sights of natural beauty, approximately 1.5 million tourists visit Cape Town every year.

Because of great climate, natural beauty and well developed infrastructure, Cape Town has become the most popular tourist destination in South Africa. Table Mountain and Cape Point are big tourist attractions. Table Mountain has its own Cableway for access, although it can still be hiked.

There are also paths up to the summit, leading to different viewpoints with their own unique vista. Around Table Mountain you’ll find some of Cape Town’s finest white beaches. The beaches are popular with locals and tourists alike. Due to the geography of the area it is possible to visit several beaches in just one day. Beaches on the Atlantic Coast have cold water which originates in the Southern Ocean whereas False Bay beaches are often warmer. Many of Cape Town’s beaches are popular although those on the Atlantic Coast tend to be more developed with restaurants, cafes and retail opportunities.
